Hi, I'm Jane from GreenSmoothieHabit.com. Welcome. Today I am making a hot honey green
smoothie. This is in response to a common question I receive, "Jane, I like my green
smoothies and enjoy them all through the summer and warmer months. But what happens when it
gets cold out? I want something hot in the morning." Well, you can have it. A hot, honey
green smoothie is a basic recipe that I'm giving you that you can just take off with
and use any green you like in it. Today I'm using some mint and parsley. You can also
use kale, beet greens, any type of green you want in this. Let me show you how it's done.
For this I'm going to start out with hot water. I've already boiled it and put 4c into the
Vitamix. You see the steam coming out? Or, as you know from watching the Hot Lemonade
video that I made, I'll put the link for it up here somewhere, you can also make the smoothie
and then boil it in the vItamix, so, either way, but today I'm starting out with the water
hot. And all you do is add a couple small handfuls of your green. I'm using some parsley
and some mint. Here goes the mint, there goes the parsley, or I happen to have some dinosaur
kale, you could use a leaf of kale. You can use any combination of greens you want, just
don't use too many of them, I want you to have a liquid, tea texture, not a thick, smoothie
texture. Squeeze in the juice from half of a lemon. Lemon, mint parsley, the lemon works
no matter what greens you use because we're going to be adding honey. Go ahead and add
2 TBS of honey or the sweetener of your choice, but I like the honey because if you get the
raw honey that's unfiltered, it's a whole food and the fiber's in it and I like the
taste of honey. Two Tablespoons, but if you want more, go ahead and add it, or if you
want less. But I like the hot, honey green smoothie kind of sweet. That's all there is
to it: hot water, honey, lemon and greens. Look at the steam rising from the vitamix.
That's a hot green smoothie. You can put this into a thermos and take it to work. I've got
a couple of those insulated glasses I'm using, loook at that. It's steaming hot; this now
replaces my cup of hot tea in the morning, which I like to have in the winter time. Look
at that, ooh that is luscious. It has the perfect texture, as though you just made tea.
Wouldn't you like to drink this bright, real green tea?
