Hello. My name is David Gelber. I represent the Hilo ultimate Frisbee community and I'm
here to do a little talk on an ultimate Frisbee on behalf of Expert Village. In ultimate Frisbee
there are two basic throws that you need to know in order to play. One is the throw that
most everybody knows or has seen. And that's the back hand throw. The back hand throw is
grabbed underneath the rim of the Frisbee with all of your fingers. Certain players
like to have one finger along the rim to guide it . The essential throw involves cocking
your wrist. Bringing the Frisbee back around the waist level. Transferring your weight
from your back foot to your front foot while throwing arm forward. The last second you
want to snap your wrist. Imagine that your arm is the whip and your wrist is the thing
that cracks the whip. By cracking the whip you get a lot of revolutions on the Frisbee.
And that's what causes the Frisbee to fly in a stable motion. The first throw I'll demonstrate
is the most common throw. It's the back hand throw and when throwing the Frisbee, imagine
that there is a person in front of you. Defending you trying to prevent you from making any
throws. So you have to involve your pivot foot with the throw.
