Hi, I'm Melina Piroso and welcome to Expert Village. In this series we're going to talk
about turning regular boring old jeans into funky bell bottoms. In this clip we're going
to talk about selecting the proper thread for our project. Whenever you sew you want
to make sure that you pick a matching color it sounds like an obvious thing. But a lot
of the times you may be in a rush or you are kind of lazy and say whatever I'll just use
red who cares even though the jeans are blue. But you never want to do that because when
you wear a garment often a lot of times the seams eventually will start to show because
of the stretching. If you used red thread you are going to have that old looking pulled
apart look. Unless you are going for that you want to make sure that you always use
a color that's going to blend into the thing that you are sewing. For example, since we
have blue jeans here we could use this lovely blue thread or dark gray thread or we can
use this light gray thread. You can even get away with white but if you have anything that
is kind in the same tone you want to go with the colors that match better. We're going
to go ahead and use this gray.
