\f0\fs36 \cf0 Welcome to The Power of Thought. This is part 2 of the episode called Vibrating
Love. In part one of this episode I talked about a personal experience and I talked about
some scientific research that indicates that feeling positive emotions can affect people
around you. In this segment I'm going to look at some more research that might indicate
that what and how you think, or don't think, affects the world around you. In 1960 a man
by the name of Maharishi Yogi stated that if one percent of the population would meditate
it would noticeably change the world for the better. Subsequently, meditating individuals
affecting their environment is thus called \'a0the Maharishi Effect. The first statistical
evidence that the Maharishi Effect has some validity was done in 1987 and published in
the Journal of Mind and Behavior. The group of participants in the study set out to influence
the population of Manilla in the Philippines. The results of the study showed that indeed
the crime rate in Manilla went down while the group was meditating in Manilla and then
went back up after the group left. Okay, so how do we know that this wasn't just a coincidence
or a statistical error? We don't, except that there are other studies showing the same thing.
The same type of study was conducted in Washington D.C. in 1993 by members from the Maharishi
University of Management and was subject to an independent review process from members
of other Universities and eventually published in 1999 in the peer reviewed journal Social
Indicators Research. This study also found significant reduction in crime rates just
like the Manilla experiment. So there are two pretty good research studies that show
that people can influence other people with their state of mind. The participants in the
study were practicing something called Transcendental Meditation, which is simply a silent awareness
technique that allows you to transcend normal linear thought. It is described as a restful
alertness by it's practitioners. This is similar to the silent awareness technique that I explain
in my other videos where you are simply aware of sensory input in the present moment without
any labeling or linear thought. The correlation of silent awareness to vibrating love seems
to be the feeling of peacefulness and well being associated with silent awareness or
Transcendental Meditation. One of the interesting things about the Maharishi effect is that
it didn't take very many people to affect the crime rate of huge populations. According
to the Maharishi University all it takes is the square root of 1 percent of the population.
This indicates that positive emotions or the peace and serenity associated with silent
awareness is more powerful than all the negative emotions felt by the general population of
an area. I urge you to see for yourself how this works in your environment. Perhaps you
work or live in a place where there are stressed out people. You could try practicing silent
awareness or Transcendental Meditation when you have time while in this place. See what
happens? Or, you could simply be in the present moment in a state of very little mind chatter
around certain people that tend to be stress filled. Or, you could even try the Heart Math
Institutes method called Quick Coherence Technique that I talked about in the last segment of
this episode. See if it changes their behavior to a more peaceful, calm or loving manner.
Remember though, you are not trying to DO anything to other people, all you are doing
is changing YOUR thought process. In the next segment I'll talk about some of the other
ways vibrating love influences reality. Until then, thank you for subscribing to my channel,
