How to make a bird feeder
Part One
Hi everyone
Two important points before we get started
This is the story of the feeder we made
You don't have to follow it too literally
Secondly - make sure you read the safety instructions for all your tools before you start
and listen to experts so that you don't take any unnecessary risks.
That's all from me for now. Enjoy the video!
THE BASE AND THE SIDE WALLS
Hello folks! Now we're going to make a wooden feeder..
We're going ti use this piece of wood for the base and the two side walls..
Then with other piecies that we'll be looking at later we will make the anti-pigeon bars
..and the supports for the roof
our table is 80 cm long by 40 cm wide
and about 1,5 cm thick
first of all let's draw a line creating a piece 25 cm wide
let's cut along the line to make the base
so this is the base on which we'll be building our feeder...
the second step is the construction of the side walls
the walls are 25 cm wide like the base
this is what the side walls will look like
now let's draw a line to make 2 panels each 25 cm square
now we can cut the pieces
now we have to mark the mid-point of what will be the top of the side panel
so that's half of 25 cm - 12,5 cm
now we must measure 16 cm along the sides of the 2 panels
we join the mid-point on the top with the marks on the sides...
if we cut along these lines we get the triangular ends that support the roof
so somehow we've managed to make the first piece...
now we can repeat the procedure with the other piece of wood to make the second side
if you've done a good job of the first piece, we can use ut as a template to draw the lines for the second piece
I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT NOW WE HAVE BOTH SIDES OF OUR FEEDER!
we must draw a line 2 cm from the edge of the base
... so we can place the side wall along the line
in this way we get a much more stable structure
THE SUPPORTS FOR THE ROOF
we'll be using two pieces of wood 3,5 cm X 2 cm and 1 m long
we have decided to cut pieces 39 cm long so that they are just a bit shorter than the length of the roof...
now let's cut our pieces to size...
we need to cut the notches that will hold the roof supports
using the bar, we can draw the edges of the notches we will cut
... and we do the same thing on the other side
... and now we can trace the notch at the apex of the side panel
so now you can see the lines we have to cut along...
we've never really been too hot on geometry so let's keep our fingers crossed...
you have now reached the HALF-WAY POINT in the CONSTRUCTION OF YOUR BIRD FEEDER
