“Retention of young professionals and keeping the people who come here to get a first-class
education. On that note I was going to add state and MA. I’ve never heard anyone talk
about it in western Mass., it’s very well known about in Boston but I think’s that
an incredible initiative that college students and college graduates should know about in
this area; that there are scholarships available to introduce you to the start-ups, the employers,
the big movers and shakers within the state- to introduce you to those people and to…I
mean, can you elaborate on that a little more? Because it’s impressive and I don’t want
to mess it up.” “Yes, so that’s again why we’re trying to bring everybody together.
So what Brendan’s talking about is a program that was actually started by a private company,
a venture capital firm that is funding a lot of small entrepreneurships and they were saying
themselves, we’re going have more opportunities to find new companies to invest in here if
we all kind of have a stake in getting young, talented people to stay here. So they started
a program that through a website they make available to college students in the area
what the professional networking events and to the extent that there’s a charge they
pay. So they let people know what’s available and match them up with things they’re interested
in they either get the organization to allow students in for free or they cover it.”
