When you install a printer driver from Apple Software Update, you can scan from your Mac
without installing additional HP software. This video will show you how
to scan with your HP printer from Apple Preview.
First, place the item you want to scan on the printer's scanner glass, or load it
into the automatic document feeder if your printer has one.
From your Mac desktop, click Finder from the Dock.
Click on Applications.
Double-click Preview from the Applications list.
From the Preview File menu, select Import from Scanner.
Select your printer from the list to open the import window.
Next, click Show Details. The details of the scan, including options to modify scan settings,
will display on your computer.
Change any settings necessary to customize your scan.
Make sure to select either the Flatbed or Document Feeder from Scan mode, depending
on your printer and how you plan to scan.
When you are done changing your settings, click Scan.
Your scan will complete, and will open the new scan in Preview.
