Fall is here. I did a happy
dance! Right on cue a cold
front moved through this
afternoon. Cooler and drier air
is moving into the area. When
you
wake up in the morning, you will
notice a big difference. Now we
still have some showers along
the coast right at the Mouth of
the
Mississippi River and south of
Terrebonne Parish. All of that
activity is moving south and out
of our area. We can look at our
water vapor
imagery, and it shows that drier
air mass moving in. Want to show
you
one of our forecast models
indicating forecast
temperatures. It shows lows on
the Northshore in the upper 50s
to low 60s, and South
shore lows in the upper 60s to
low 70s. Even at 9:00 AM
temperatures are in the mid to
upper 70s. Highs will be in the
mid 80s with lots of
sunshine. Bobby sent in this
twitpic of sunny skies on the
Bogue Chitto. Mike and Jess
Palmer sent in this twitpic of
crepuscular rays. It
was still hot for this last day
of summer. Highs were in the
upper 80s to low
90s. Look how temperatures are
falling. We are already in the
mid 60s in Bogalusa, South shore
temps are in the mid 70s to
upper 70s.
Humidity is dropping.
Temperatures right now are still
near 80 in the Metro. Winds
right now are NE 5-22 mph. Lows
will be in the upper
50s to low 60s on the
Northshore. South Shore lows
will be in the mid
60s to low 70s South Shore.
Highs tomorrow will mainly be in
the mid 80s with a few upper
80s. It's going to be breezy
with winds NE 10-
20 mph. Winds will be brisk
along the coast through the
week. Strong east winds may
push some water onshore on the
east facing shorelines.
Models indicate the potential
for an area of low pressure to
form
along the coast as we go into
the weekend. That's why I've
raised our rain chances. The
models are not clear, but they
show that potential.
