Hi all!
Pohl Force Alpha 2
By the look of this tactical folding knife
It's not afraid of any tests
But wait!
I've already seen this somewhere
Cold Steel Spartan
And so Pohl Force not be bored
I decided to test both of these knives
Both are absolutely new
Checking the out of the box sharpness
Cold Steel is less sharp
but nevertheless both are doing push cut on paracord
Starting with cable
Very hard
Impossible to cut without pushing with thumb
Maybe a bit less effort with Spartan
but also not easy
Cutting edges are totally fine
No problems whatsoever
Opening a can
Cutting very strong
Spartan
Well...
Pohl Force was much more comfortable in this job
You can observe the dulling on a cutting edge
Pretty extensive, in this area
It reflects light
Seems like there are no chipping or crumples
Coating has been scratched but not got to metal
On a Spartan
damage is more significant
at this spot, here
you can notice small chipping
And of course the dulling
Well, moving to shaving of aluminum
They are not bad in shaving overall
Here are partially the shavings
Now looking on a cutting edges
All appearance that a dulling has increased
Almost all cutting edge length is reflecting light now
On a Cold Steel...
On a Cold Steel we have a big chip
Here it is near the tip here
Very big
I'll try to check Pohl Force with a fingernail
No, there are no significant chips or damage
Well
Moving to testing of locks
On a Pohl Force we have a mighty backlock
We'll see how it can take a beating
Folded
Folded
Folded
I think we can stop, it's folding on a good strike
Now with a front side
Folded
Folded
Ooooooooh ***! ***,***,***,***....
Looking here
This hitch on a blade, where a backlock catches
It's just cut off
It's gone
Wow!
Here it is
Gee!
OK, let's see what Spartan can show us
It can be hit on concrete and nothing happens
With a front side
Everything is good, no play, nothing
Moving to punching a metal
Galvanized metal 0.8mm
Five strikes
Spartan
Five strikes
There is a bending on a tip
Pohl Force
A tip is undamaged
Although there is a little crumpling is present
Here
Galvanized metal 1.0mm
Tip on a Spartan is continue bending
Cutting edge gets new damage
But it is unbroken overall
Pohl Force
Crumpling increased
They can be seen here
Stainless steel 1.0mm
Tip on a Spartan is bent even more
Pohl Force tip is holding better
but some deformation is present
Deformation of a cutting edge here
The tip itself is intact of course
Continue tip testing
undoubtedly, the tip on a Pohl Force is very strong
Very very very strong
And such job is not a problem for it
Now let's see a Spartan
The same with Spartan
Very strong tip
Next we have a chopping
OK, seems there is no problems
Spartan is a beast, just a beast
Well done!
And batoning in the end
No damage
A blade on this knife is of course very very strong
And Spartan
Spartan
I already told that it's a beast
The cutting edge is bent
look here
Can you see it?
It's because of high, hollow grind
And it's very bad
Look how it's bent
So what you say?
Pohl Force
Cold Steel Spartan
Seems to be OK
but a cutting edge...
That's how it going...
Now look at them in macro
Well, let's look
Pohl Force first
I want to notice that it's a newer modification of this knife
with 440C steel
Previously they had a D2, but after testing, I think that there is no problem
in terms of blade and steel after changing the steel
It is a bit raining now, never mind the drops
The only relatively serious damage is here at the tip
and it happened during steel punching
The tip itself is intact
Cutting edge blunted
But no big chips or crumples
And the main upset is of course a lock
Pay attention to rocker position
It's kind of unnatural state
And this hitch on a blade, it's just not there
Here is this piece
Here is how much was broken
It was like positioned this
And now it's not there
Thus is of course a huge upset
Next a Cold Steel
There is of course no admonition to a lock
Tri-Ad lock at its best
super strong locking mechanism
No blade play, no loosening, nothing
But on other hand we have a weak blade steel
weak hollow grind geometry
Not clear why
and we get such damage during batoning
In addition a tip was damaged very seriously during a metal punching
Well,
Unfortunately this testing hasn't revealed a new leader
in folding tactical knives
But I think many of you got many interesting information
and food for thought
I think we can finish here because both
a Pohl Force and Cold Steel they aren't fixable
and they should be sent to warranty service or forget about them ;)
At the end I want to thank guys from www.lamnia.fi store
Because without their help, it is unknown when this knife will be on a tests
And unknown when we'd know much about it
That's all, I hope it was interesting
Thanks for watching,
see you, bye bye
