At work or after a long night out, heels can take a toll on a woman's feet.
Here are some tips and tricks on how to pamper your feet.
Once every week, submerge your feet in a tub with two cups
of orange, grapefruit, or lemon juice, or a combination of all,
and two cups of warm water. Soak your feet for at least five minutes.
The citric acid will soften any
dead skin and you can slough your heels in the balls of your feet with a pumice stone.
After soaking your feet, pat them dry
and give them a five minute massage to improve blood circulation
and relieve any tension in the muscles.
Hold one foot in both hands, the thumbs on top and fingers on bottom.
Walk your hands, stopping and applying pressure for five seconds
with each finger step. Finish the foot massage with a few
long smooth strokes on the bottom of your feet, starting at toes
and ending at the heel. And remember to roll your ankle a few times
They can get a little stiff from walking in heels
and you don't want that to happen. Repeat on the other foot.
Now your dry feet are primed and ready for a DIY olive oil wrap.
You'll need a medium bowl,
pair of thick socks, plastic wrap, whisk,
unscented lotion, and a bottle of olive oil.
Whisk 1/4 cup of olive oil
and 1/4 cup of unscented lotion in a bowl. Warm it in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds.
Then smooth warm olive oil
on to each foot. Apply generously
and focus on dry heels and any rough spots. Wrap with a piece of plastic wrap to lock in
warmth and healing oil.
Do one foot at a time. Slip on a pair of socks and relax for at least one hour before removing.
The DIY olive oil foot wrap can also be slept in for a deep
overnight moisturizing healing. Remove socks,
plastic wrap, and pat feet dry to reveal smooth, sandal-ready feet.
For an added bonus to treat dry hands,
smooth any remaining olive oil mixture on to hands. With these home remedies
your feet will thank you and will be ready once again to walk in heels.
