A Brooklyn woman who claims a well-known Moroccan singer and actor sexually assaulted her and beat her six years ago and then fled the country has used his status as a fugitive to file a lawsuit against him for monetary damages.
Saad Lamjarred, who got 47 million views on YouTube for his hit single, “What’s Wrong With My Baby?” allegedly beat and sexually assaulted the young woman during a 2010 tourist visit to the Big Apple, according to court papers filed last week in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
The victim, whose name was withheld because of the nature of the alleged crime, decided to sue Lamjarred for *** battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, the lawsuit said.
Lamjarred, 31, was an unknown bar singer when the alleged assault occurred, according to the victim’s lawyer.
The singer and soap opera actor was in New York on a tourist visa when he went on the date with the unnamed woman on Feb. 7, 2010.
She claims in her lawsuit that Lamjarred beat and then sexually assaulted her in a Brooklyn apartment when she tried to resist his *** advances.
The woman was in fear for her life and felt helpless during the attack, the lawsuit said.
She filed a report with police that Lamjarred *** her and beat her, according to authorities.
The Moroccan singer was arrested and indicted, said Rifat Harb, the woman’s attorney.
As soon as he posted bail, Lamjarred fled the country and hasn’t returned, said Harb.

The criminal case was dismissed and sealed, Harb said.
But his client can still file a lawsuit since Lamjarred is considered a fugitive, he added.
Lamjarred has not attempted to hide in Morocco, the lawyer said.
He’s appeared on as many as 30 episodes of a Moroccan soap opera called “Ahlam Nassim,” and is the lead character, according to his website bio.
“He wasn’t worth a penny before. No one could find him to serve him, the district attorney’s office couldn’t even find him. He should be easy to arrest outside of Morocco, he’s making the rounds in Europe from Milan to Germany now, he can be easily served,” said Harb.
In 2014, Lamjarred gave an interview to Al Arabiya and said he’d worked hard all his life and was “getting the good stuff now.”
Lamjarred’s most recent message to his 408,000 Twitter and 2.8 million Instagram followers was “Laughter is the best calorie burner.”
Attempts to contact Lamjarred were unsuccessful.
