Bill Haskell/BART Rider: "My question for BART is - why are you making it so difficult
to find senior tickets?"
Michael Maeda/BART Customer Services: " Hello Mr. Haskell. Thank you very much for asking
about the BART green senior ticket. Yes, it's been hard to find, but that's because we transitioned
to the Clipper card. That's the new way to pay for transit in the Bay Area. You can get
your green senior ticket if you go on line at www.bart.gov. There's 35 locations left.
But what we'd really like you to do is apply for the senior Clipper card. That way you'll
have your ticket with you at all times. It's permanent, it's reloadable and it's the regional
ticket.
BART has held more than 100 Clipper outreach events held in 33 cities, with more than 10,000
free senior Clipper cards given out. Persons must be 65 or older, bring identification,
such as a drivers license or passport, to verify eligibility. For more information on
how to get your senior Clipper card, simply go to www.clippercard.com or call (510) 465-2278
Michael Maeda/BART Customer Services: " So, Mr. Haskell, we hope you apply for the senior
Clipper card and enjoy all the conveniences' it has to offer."
