Te Mana o Ngati Rangitihi
is seeking to settle its Treaty claims.
However, some of the beneficiaries are opposed to going further
until their concerns about the lack of communication
on the iwi's claim is addressed.
To bring you up to speed,
here's Kereama Wright and his report.
A storm is brewing,
as opposition to Ngati Rangitihi's Treaty settlement builds.
Te Mana o Ngati Rangitihi,
the tribe's post-settlement governance entity,
has said the mandating process will begin as soon as next month.
Te Mana o Ngati Rangitihi began engaging with the Crown in 2011.
Its mandating strategy was aproved
by the Office of Treaty Settlements last year,
but has since been put on hold
after objections from concerned beneficiaries.
Mr Pryor and Merepeka Raukawa-Tait
are the named negotiators for the claim.
Rangitihi's 4100 registered beneficiaries
will get the chance to vote for or against the strategy
during six mandating to be held next month.
