Only a win will do for Panathinaikos when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart
Lane on Thursday.
Spurs are two points ahead of Panathinaikos in Europa League Group J and the Greek side
must overcome their hosts if they are to progress to the last 32.
It is something that they have struggled to do in the past - Panathinaikos have only defeated
an English opponent once - and that was back in 2001 against Arsenal.
Head coach Juan Roman Rocha believes there is only one way to play against Spurs.
"I know that some teams have played defensive football and even won the Champions League,
for example Chelsea have done that recently. But Panathinaikos are not a team that will
do that - we want to play modern football, to play creative football, and that's what
the plan is. It is a bigger plan, not just for tomorrow, but the bigger plan. We know
that we're playing Tottenham - an English team, one of the top English teams - and we
also know that Panathinaikos have had a very difficult few months recently, it hasn't all
been rosy. But the plan is to play good, entertaining football."
Panathinaikos scored in the 90th minute to salvage a point when the two sides met in
October.
Rocha could do with even more fortune in London.
Panathinaikos need some European success as they are 16 points adrift of leaders Olympiacos
in the Greek Super League.
