Hello this is Vernon with Engineer LLC.
A little over a week ago,
Microsoft's released a new OS called Windows server 2012 Essentials.
I have it here loaded up on a Virtualbox VM to test out.
OK so here we are and as you can see it has the same metro interface as Windows 8.
You get to the hot corners,
You get your...
"Charm Bar"... kind of a lame name.
Down here you can get the icon For the start menu and if you...
right-click it
You'll get uh... shortcuts
to a lot of familiar management apps.
Look here we have the device manager, disk management, computer management
command prompt
and control panel, task manager.
Whoopee! good stuff.
What's this dashboard thing
Mmm hmm.
Yeah that's the new version of what was once called the uh...
Server Manager.
This is as fresh here, and this message is telling me that it doesn't
like the setting that I chose for
Microsoft Update
which is just to notify me and not
download or install anything.
Now this message is telling us
we have some system folders that should be on a different drive beside the system drive
for best practices.
Well... there you go.
How do you log this thing out?
You find the current user name and
bring down the menu from that and sign out.
So that's it, a quick tour of the new Windows server 2012 Essentials.
Windows server 2012 Essentials.

Thank you for watching.
