I joined the Berkeley Finance club, so I want to get into sales and training. Well, from
this club they'll teach me all the ins and outs and all the basics - where I'll hopefully
be able to apply them to the real world. Hopefully. We'll see.
I'm an intended Psychology major and I've gotten a position with research, and I'm working now at a lab
in Tolman. And it's about emotion and kids and how being bilingual affects that. So I think that there's a lot
of opportunities if you want to get involved with research. There's URAP and you can always
look at whatever field you are, and I'm pretty sure they're going to have a research opportunity for you.
My major is Development Studies, which is the study of developing countries.
And it deals a lot about international relations and what not, so this summer I'm going to
study abroad in Spain. So that's going to be a lot of fun, and that's really a big part of my major.
I'm an English major, and I've participated in the Chernin program, which is a really great way to meet other
English majors and get English mentors. And because I want to go into law school, I'm currently
a caseworker in the Student Advocate's Office, which I've gained really great experience
in just one semester in terms of defending students.
One of my future ambitions is to work in the entertainment industry. So I'm currently part of SUPERB, which is
the student entertainment group on campus. We get to host student entertainment events such as concerts,
movie premieres, sneak previews to movies, and it's just like awesome, just to entertain all those
stressful college students out there.
I have participated in the Daily Californian, and I also work for a magazine on campus called
Al-Bayan. And because there is no journalism major on campus, I try to make the most of
getting journalistic opportunities through campus, without studying anything about journalism.
I've been in a few clubs and organizations like Pi Tau Sigma, the Mechanical Engineering
Honor Society. And also for a while, I participated in, what was that called? BEAM, yeah, which
is like Berkeley's Engineering and Mentor Program. We went to some schools in Oakland and taught
kids about some basic principles of engineering.
I'm actually a Global Poverty and Practice minor and I'm a GPP peer adviser. I'm also in Global Medical
Brigades, and I love that because we travel to Honduras and other parts of the world to do medical missions.
I am part of the national organization called American Institute of Architecture students so that
connects students here with other architecture students around the country, and we do lots
of workshops. And I'm also part of Alpha Rho Chi, which is another national architecture
group, but it's a fraternity so it's a more social group, and it's awesome.
Currently I'm a volunteer for the volunteer health interpreter organization, and what we do is basically
contact different clinics around the Bay Area and volunteer our services, which is just interpreting,
translating, or going on outreach, getting people aware of the health services that are available to them.
At Cal, I participate on the BAM/PFA student committee, which is kind of an internship, kind of a club that works
directly with the BAM/PFA. And what we do is try to connect the Cal campus with the
valuable resources that the BAM/PFA has to offer.
