The top U.S. nuclear commander has said he would go *against President Donald Trump's
order to launch nuclear weapons... if he thought it was, quote, "illegal."
Speaking at a security forum on Saturday, the commander of the U.S. Strategic Command,
Air Force General John Hyten, said he had given a lot of thought to the idea of such
an order, in light of recent tensions with North Korea.
He said, quote, "If it's illegal, guess what's going to happen'?
I'm going to say, 'Mr. President, that's illegal.'
And guess what he's going to do?
He's going to say, 'What would be legal?'
And we'll come up with options."
He also added that "if you execute an unlawful order,...
You could go to jail for the rest of your life."
The Pentagon has yet to comment on these remarks.
