DREW NOAH: So continuing to talk about the profile just kinda like go over the general
overface and then your preferences. So you've got some links right here, you got your plate,
your diary, friends, your inbox, we 'edit my profile' which I just showed you and then
my preferences which I'll show you in a second. You can see right here is where you see all
your main information and then there's about me section which I entered on the end of my
profile but I didn't really fill up that much. This is where you would see your friends,
right now I don't have any 'cause I just made this profile but, it says you don't have any
friends but if you like to--here are a few ways to meet people, check out the message
boards or check out the member-created groups or look at our homepage to see the members
currently featured there. So that's a kind of a way to find friends you can also just
send a friend request, get the username of friends that you know who have joined and
then you can add them if their like your friend in real life that you know you want to add
as a friend on the website. Over here on the left is where your photos show up, right here
is where your badges kind of go back and forth and right now I only have the one 'cause I
just made this profile but as you track your food more than once, this will change to two
just a little--well, you're doing good reminder here. And here's your food diary which I want
to talk about a little bit. Basically, as you track your calories this is where your
food diary will fill out on your profile but people will only see it if you make it public.
So if you want people to see all the calories you're tracking you can make your food diary
public, if you'd rather keep it private you can just leave it 'cause by default it's marked
as private. You can also write in the diary. And then down here is your groups, I haven't
joined any yet and your meals, I haven't made any yet. But let's look at the food diary.
And this is what that looks like and basically it's going to go day by day and list out the
calories and your goal and all these other stuff that I'll be showing you how to create
later. So that's kind of what the food, diet and fitness diary is going to look like so
decide if you want to make that public or not. Now to change your preferences on your
profile go to the 'my preferences' section and here they are. So you've got a few options,
you can subscribe to The Daily Plate e-mail newsletter, you can see very occasional reminders
about key features and tracking, you can e-mail me when I receive a new private message at
The Daily Plate, see. And you can choose how you want to be notified when you get a new
friend request, don't notify me, e-mail to the e-mail address you signed up with, just
a message on The Daily Plate or e-mail and The Daily Plate message. Or you can choose
to block your profile from search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN, if want to do that.
It says it may take up to 30 days for this to take effect but if you just signed up this
shouldn't be a big deal. It says my food diary you want it private, public or you can lock
it with a password, and then you got some options for your friends' feeds and I'll be
showing you later how you can see the feed of friends like as they track food and that
kind of thing. So if you want to allow just your friends to see your updates or everyone
or no one, you can pick those options. You got your e-mail address, your timezone, and
then when you go to somebody else's profile would you rather see their profile by default
or their food diary by default if they're public. So those are your preferences. And
that pretty much covers the 'my profile' section it's pretty simple. So in the next couple
of clips we'll actually get into tracking some calories.
