Greetings, my name is Sriram I will speak in Kannada now This is a little bit difficult
because I have grown up in the USA I from the start never really spoke Kannada At one
time I was going to India every year Until I was 14 years old I was going every year
There I was going to my grandmothers house with my mom and big sister in Mysore There
I was picking up some Kannada A few times my dad came but he generally couldn't because
he couldn't leave his work like that I was going primarily with just mom and sister I've
only gone to India once since 2002 I went to Tirupati in India for pilgrimmage in 2007
with my whole family As a matter of fact my dad is in India right now for the same reason
He is going with all his brothers and sisters I'm 25 years old now I live with mom and dad
I don't pay rent that's why if you live outside you have to pay rent Rents really expensive
Because i dont pay rent i can save the money i earn My sister is three years older than
me I correspond with my sister all the time and I write to her of the e-mail variety not
actual letters we also text message eachother and call eachother I work in a law firm right
now in Boston I do it everyday you have to pay a lot for train and parking but its worth
it to work in the city is nice Lunch in the city never gets boring so its nice Around
where i work in that neighborhood there is this indian restaurant i got to You get dal
and it is comparable to the food i eat at home but its not as good but it reminds you
of it i think of my homecooked food when i eat the restaurant food Indian food is the
best I can't really eat non Indian food like pastas and pizzas at least not regularly I'm
just practicing my Kannada right now I speak Kannada with my mom and dad daily. i also
watch movies in Kannada. If i do these things i feel like the language will become more
comfortable for me. I want to speak kannada really well some day. If i just speak all
the time it will come. I do have to say one thing actually. This video is really hard
to make. I have grown up here in the US. I was born in Mysore in India but... this is
hard because i have to improvise. Its hard because i dont speak well in Kannada. From
the start my exposure was in English. My sister on the other hand actually speaks really well
in Kannada. She can even read and write in it which I can't do. I just speak unintelligible
Kannada.
