How to use BrainPOP The first thing you do is go to brainpop.com.
This is the home screen and as you can see there are a lot of features. Free features
include some games, some resources for educators, and if you click on any of the subject areas
you will see a button for all free movies. If you click on that, these are all the movies
that are available to anyone with or without a password. You can also take a tour of BrainPOP.
This is everything that's free, like I said the lesson ideas are free, there are some
free games, and also here's some free options in Spanish. If you have a BrainPOP password
or account you can sign in over here. Put in your username and password, hit GO or enter
and the homescreen comes up again and now you are logged in. We'll start by just looking
at a BrainPOP movie and seeing how it works and the features that are available. Let's
choose Math. Here's some math strands. I'm going to look at Numbers and Operations and
maybe look at Decimals. What comes up now is a movie. You can zoom the movie out here
or click to play the movie here and zoom it out with this button. There's also closed
captioning available for all the movies. I'm going to minimize it and up here you can see I'm in
Decimals, I got that in the Numbers and Operations strand under Math; and this would take me
back to the homescreen. After watching a movie the students can do one of two things. They
can look at related topics and watch other movies that deal with decimals or you can
do some activities, play some games, explore some information (FYI) about decimals, and
there's some questions and answers. I'm just going to click through these quickly. Here
are some activities. I'll go back to the Decimals page. Here's questions and answers - you can
click on these and get the answer to that. Here's some games that are available related
to decimals, FYI, and Quizzes. The quizzes are available three ways - as a graded quiz
(and you can have your score printed or emailed to you), a review quiz, or a printed quiz.
You can go back to Decimals or back to the home page and choose something else. I hope
that helps you understand BrainPOP a little. Explore it - there's lots to do.
