Now that we have got this bulk of clay right here from the bottom we are going to do what
is called collaring in and this, by collaring it is going to get rid of any wobble that
might have happened during that process, it is going to compress the clay and it's also
going to bring me to that point that I like that is like this so we're not, the pot is
not going like this, you just want, I can't elaborate any more to keep the pot from going
like this. We want to be in control and then when we go to shape it at the end that's when
we want to make it whatever shape we want but right now it is going like this because
we are making a basic cylinder. So this is how you collar. You want to take it, get the
outside a little wet, take your hands like this and watch this. Some might call this
throwing but I don't know what it is but it is collaring but it gives it height like throwing.
It looks like a little nuclear reactor at this point. Just collar it in and I just made
it thick so now we can go in straighten it all out again and go back to the bottom for
one more pull. I am going to try to grab that bulk of clay because this is the last time
I'm going back to the bottom and this is what is going to keep you from having a bottom
heavy piece. You want to make sure that you grab the proper amount of clay at the proper
time because you can't go back. I mean you can go back but it is going to be detrimental
to your piece.
