Hi! I am Jason Wyatt, head golf professional at Sunnydale Golf & Country Club and on behalf
of ExpertVillage.com, I am here to show you a few putting drills that will save you some
strokes on the putting green. First drill I like to do is place a few balls around the
hole like I have done here. Notice these balls are in different spots around the green. A
lot of problems that we see our amateur golfers do is they will drop five golf balls here
and hit five putts. Well you are finally going to knock it in the hole because you have five
chances at it, but on the real putting green you only have one chance so this allows you
to see different putts because but you are still practicing. This putt goes in, and then
you move to this putt. If that putt moves in, you move to the next putt. Again, it allows
you to have a different feel every time you putt. One other drill I would like to use,
this is a common drill that we use in the industry is take a couple of long irons. I
have my 3 and 4 iron laid down on the ground, they are about a putter head width a way and
I put a ball in the middle. What this allows me to do, allows the putter head to track
online during the putting stroke. I make sure that the putting head goes straight back and
straight through. Now if you go ahead put these up against the hole, you will make a
lot more putts which creates more confidence. As you create the confidence, move the putt
or the clubs back further, putt some more. You will find that you will stroke the ball
better and you will make more putts on the putting green.
