SHEENA DIMATTEO: Dancing with the Stars is back in action,
there are two new dance films on DVD, and a new musical that
has Broadway buzzing.
This is Just Dance for March 24, 2011.
This week was the start of Season 12 of ABC's Dancing
with the Stars.
11 celebs danced their first steps in front of a live
studio audience.
And I'm going to fill you in on the top three couples
according to the judges.
There was a tie for third, with 21 out of 30 points,
between Disney star Chelsea Kane and her partner Mark's
foxtrot and Super Bowl star Hines Ward and his partner
Kym's cha-cha-cha.
Comedian Kirstie Alley stunned the judges with her full-blown
energy and saucy steps, earning
her and Maks 23 points.
And Mr. Miyagi's training clearly
stuck with Ralph Macchio.
His foxtrot with Karina earned them eights across the board.
With such an eclectic group of stars, I have a feeling we're
in for quite a treat this spring.

with the Stars action.
Broadway is buzzing with so many new shows right now, I
don't even know where to begin.
Since I have quite a soft spot for Leo, love of my life,
DiCaprio, I should probably start with the new musical,
Catch Me if You Can.
The show reunites the production team of the
Broadway hit Hairspray, including Tony award-winning
choreographer Jerry Mitchell, whose work has also been seen
on the Great White Way in The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels, and Legally Blonde.
This show is filled with high energy dance numbers that keep
it moving from start to finish.
And just wait until you see the legs on
these female dancers.
I have never been so jealous watching a
kickline in my life.
Catch Me if You Can is currently in previews at the
Neil Simon Theater and officially opens on April 10.
And check out DanceOn's new original series, Diary of a
Chorus Girl.
It follows the making of Catch Me through the eyes Alex
Ellis, an ensemble member in the musical making her
Broadway debut.
I just watched the first two episodes, and I cannot wait to
see the next one.
It's so dang cool to see everything that goes on behind
the curtain of a big Broadway musical.
Speaking of big musicals, did you know that the
movie-musical Burlesque is now available on DVD?
Now you can enjoy the Golden Globe-winning film starring my
girls Christina Aguilera and Cher in the
comfort of your own home.
Here's a little taste of one of the special features
included in the DVD.
MELANIE LEWIS: To perform, I really loved "Express." It
just was sexy, sassy.
SUNNY WALTERS: And that transition from the mirror
onto the stage was really sublime.
SHEENA DIMATTEO: Check out DanceOn's channel page for
more special feature sneak peeks.
And don't forget to buy Burlesque on DVD or Blu-ray at
a store near you.
-Anyone can be an internet sensation.
You just have to work with what you've got.
SHEENA DIMATTEO: I never really knew what it was like
to live in the shadow of an older sibling, so I may have
to ask my little baby sister whether she relates to this
upcoming film, Diary of a WImpy Kid, Rodrick Rules.
Zachary Gordon and Devon Bostick reprise their roles in
the sequel to last summer'*** film.
The comedic movie has choreography by Hellcats
resident choreographer Paul Becker, who also worked on the
first Wimpy Kid.
Check out Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Rodrick Rules, starting
March 25 in a theater near you.
DanceOn has provided you with everything you've needed and
wanted to know about last fall's Black Swan.
Well, it's finally coming to DVD.
The psychological dance thriller that earned Natalie
Portman her first Oscar is hitting stores.
And I for one cannot wait to buy it.
Available on Blu-ray and DVD, the Fox Searchlight film is
chock full of special features, including cast
profiles, in depths about the costumes and design, a behind
the scenes look at the filmmaking process, and
Metamorphosis, a three-part series.
Black Swan hits stores on March 29.
You saw Black Swan and Burlesque dance onto DVD,
Catch Me if You Can dance onto Broadway, and
stars dance on ABC.
Tune in next week for an all-new episode of Just Dance
on DanceOn, the dance video network.
