When we talk with clients about vinyl decals, one of the questions we get asked a lot is
… “Which grade of vinyl should I choose for
my vinyl decals”? Well, that’s a great question to ask because
if you don’t know what the differences are, you might select the wrong grade of vinyl
by accident. If you had the opportunity to watch our previous
video “Which grade of vinyl should I choose for my vinyl decal?” you will remember we
gave you a short and sweet explanation of the differences between the 4 grades of vinyl.
So in this video, not only are we going to review those differences but also give you
even more details about each. In addition you will also see how easy it is to order
the right grade of vinyl for your particular order. (Beth on screen, screen split showing
4 different applications of vinyl decals perhaps indoor, outdoor, car, roadside)
So let’s get cookin’ shall we?! Here at theSignChef.com when we use the word
“grade” in reference to vinyl, we are actually referring to its durability. The
better the “grade”, the longer your custom vinyl decals will survive the elements outdoors.
(Screen with Beth, divided showing weather conditions, rain, sun, snow, heat)
These 4 grades of vinyl include 1. Economy
2. Standard 3. Premium
4. And Reflective (Beth on screen, grades listed on right)
Let’s start with the Economy Grade. These decals are digitally printed with a weather
resistant ink and are rated to last up to 3 years outdoors. Indoors though, these high
quality decals can last for decades. (Beth on screen with key points listed to
the right) To help the vibrant colors printed on your
decals last as long as possible outdoors, just remember to gently clean with mild soapy
water only and here’s why … The economy grade vinyl is produced without a protective
clear coat. So you want to avoid using common household spray cleaners because the chemicals
could wash off some of the ink over time. (Beth on screen, examples of decals then ending
with the universal no symbol over a cleaner/glass cleaner bottle)
Of course, one of the key advantages to choosing the Economy Grade Vinyl is the initial price
point. So when you’re looking for the lowest price, the Economy Grade is the perfect place
to start. (Back to screen with listed points and add
“lowest price” or “most affordable” or “economically priced”)
Our Standard Grade Decals are not only produced on a higher quality grade of vinyl, you’ll
also get the added protection of the Dura-Shield Clear Protective Laminate. This clear, protective
coating improves abrasion and scratch resistance, provides UV protection and makes cleaning
and maintaining the decal’s original appearance and color, a piece of cake. With the Standard
Grade Decals you get added durability for shipping, handling, installation and appearance
due to the uncompromising quality of the Dura-Shield Laminate. That’s why the Standard Grade
Vinyl Decals last longer and are rated for up to 5 years outdoors. (Beth on screen, points
listed to right) If you are going to be using your decals on
a company vehicle or storefront glass window, you might want to consider upgrading to the
Standard Grade. (Examples of decals) Now if you want the highest quality available,
the 3M brand is a “top shelf”, high performance vinyl which has proven to be one of the most
consistently reliable brands in the entire sign industry. That’s why we use the 3M
brand vinyl together with the 3M Clear Protective Laminate to produce our Premium Grade Decals.
This combination provides exceptional, long term durability with a rating of up to 7 years
outdoors. The quality of the vinyl and laminate make it extra durable for shipping, handling,
installation and cleaning. In fact, the 3M Premium Grade Vinyl is so durable it’s often
specified as a requirement by national companies, state governments and the military. (Beth
on screen with points listed to right) But you don’t have to be a part of a big
organization to appreciate exceptional quality, especially since there’s not a big price
difference. So if your vinyl decals are going to be exposed to extreme hot or cold climate
conditions, salty water conditions, cleaners or any other chemicals or if you simply want
the best decals the sign industry has to offer, you just can’t go wrong with the 3M, Premium
Grade Vinyl. (Examples of decals, maybe in extreme conditions)
The fourth and final grade offered here at theSignChef.com is our Reflective Grade Vinyl.
The Reflective Grade is another type of Premium Grade Vinyl and is also rated for up to 7
years outdoors. It’s the same type of reflective vinyl you see at night on STOP signs and interstate
signs. (Beth on screen, with points listed, include the previous points from Premium Grade)
However, instead of a plain design with simple text, we can print and laminate any design
you want including full color photos or a corporate logo which will have the same reflective
effect. So if your decals will catch some light at
night, reflective grade decals will keep on working for you long after the sun goes down.
(Show examples of reflective decals, animation? Night shots?)
So to quickly recap… Our Economy Grade Vinyl is uncoated and rated
to last up to 3 years outdoors.
The Standard Grade is a higher quality vinyl and includes the clear, Dura-Shield Protective
Laminate rated for up to 5 years outdoors.
Our Premium Grade Vinyl Decals are printed on the Premium 3m Brand Vinyl and protected
with the 3M Laminate for maximum fade resistance with an outdoor life of up to 7 years.
And finally, our Premium Reflective Grade Decals are protected with 3M’s Premium Grade
Laminate and are rated for up to 7 years outdoors. (Re-flash previous screens of points for each
vinyl grade listed) There you have it, all the information you
need to know about the 4 grades of vinyl offered here at theSignChef.com. You can compare prices
between grades and select the grade you want using our online pricing calculator, our online
design tool we call Sign Magic or right before you checkout in the shopping cart.
