Now I'm going to show you petrissage on the upper leg in the supine position. After we've
done our Effleurage we move into a deeper stroke called petrissage. We apply oil. These
are major muscle groups, great stroke for runners to really get into these muscles when
they're sore. Petrissage is a great technique to increase your circulation and get deeper
into the muscle fibers. So, I'm going to start with a pick up petrissage. I'm going to either
side of the leg, pick up squeeze, pick up and squeeze. Really use your leg muscles to
do this so you don't strain your wrist. I'm going to move down softly, glide up and squeeze.
Down, up and squeeze. Then I can do my kneading on the adductors,
and on the quads, and I can even do it down here on the adductors near the IT band. Feels
great around the knee, kneading around the attachments of the knee. I can also do knuckling.
Pushing the tissue, moving up towards the heart, soft wrist, using this part of my hand,
bending into the stroke. That's petrissaging the upper leg in supine.
