Today I'm going to show you how to make an easy doll outfit.
Fuyumi is modeling a 2 piece summer outfit.
2 piece of fabric
I prefer a plain color against a patterned fabric, but that's entirely up to you.
Try to choose fabric that are easy to use, eg. plain cotton.
They are thin are not easy to frail.
some ribbon 2mm in width
some elastic band
something for closure
To make the top we need to cut a 12.5cm x 6cm rectangle.
This will fit pullip type 3 and 4 body,
type 2 might a slightly bigger and you can adjust.
Then we fold the top fabric in half and sew 1 length and 1 width.
Leave about 0.5cm for the edge.
You can use sewing machine.
Hand sew is perfectly fine, just takes longer.
Turn the rectangle inside out.
Sew up the opening.
To make it fit the body better,
we sew a small line of elastic band in the front.
Stretch the elastic band as much as you can and then sew.
See this create folds.
Now the top is almost done.
Cut the ribbon of length 20cm.
Sew it to the back of the top.
Or you can have some variation and make shoulder straps.
Last we need some closure for the top.
We can use Velcro, snaps, hooks
I like to use this Velcro.
It's very thin and is great for doll clothes.
Sew the bristle-like side to the bottom and soft side to the top.
Now it's easy to fasten.
The top is done.
Now with the shirt, a simple tube mini-shirt is fine,
but let's make it a little nicer.
Cut a rectangle of 14cm X 4cm, another of 30cm X 3cm.
Sew up the smaller rectangle like a tube.
Turn it inside out.
With the bigger rectangle, fold and sew a line
On the other edge, stretch the elastic band and sew it on.
Now put the bigger rectangle againist the small one.
Sew them together. Keep the folds
Cut the remaining part if needed.
Fold the 2 ends in and sew. Add closure.
This is almost done.
But you can see it doesn't fit the waist too well.
Turn it inside out, with the closure in the middle,
Sew a bit from the top 2 corners.
About 0.5mm from the edge and down to the side.
Cut the 2 corners and try it back on.
There, fits a lot better.
I usually use the remaining fabric to make matching hairpieces for them.
It looks a lot nicer.
So that's all for this tutorial.
I hope you'll make great outfits for your dolls.
