When you find a book you want in the catalog, it's often not where you are. This
video will show you how to request a book and have it delivered to the campus of your
choice.
Let's say you're a Sac City student looking in the catalog for a book for your paper,
and you find one that looks perfect. As you can see, there are four copies of the book
and those copies are located at different campuses, and some are checked out, including
the one at Sac City. Now you could go to one of the campuses that has it and check the
book out there--your student access card works at all of the Los Rios campuses. But let's
say you'd rather not deal with the traffic.
You should see a Request button on the page. If you click it,
you'll be sent to a form where you can enter your Student ID number and password. This
is the same information you enter to access other campus online services such as eServices,
iMail and so on.
You can then select the campus you want the book sent to. Choose whichever is most convenient
for you--you have a choice of all the main campuses and some of the outreach centers.
The next field is optional, and you can normally leave it blank.
Click submit.
You'll then be sent to a page where, if there's more than one copy, you'll need to choose
which one to request. The trick here is, if one of the copies is currently checked out,
don't choose that one.
Once you've made you're choice, you'll see a confirmation page.
So at this point you've requested the book. Someone at the library will find the book
for you and send it off to the campus you chose, and it should take anywhere from 1
to 4 business days to arrive. Depending on where you chose to pick it up you might get
an e-mail or a phone call, but in any case you can always log in to your library record
and see what the status of the book is.
