The Congressional Medal of Honor,
presented by The President of the United States, as authorized by Congress,
is our nation's highest award for military valor.
Since the start of World War I, over eight million men and women have served
in our armed forces.
Of these, less than 1000 have received the Medal of Honor.
It is extraordinary indeed that four of these heroes
were raised in Pueblo. "We in Pueblo
are honored to recognize these four men for their great heroism,
and the sacrifices they have made. And for reflecting
great credit on our nation and our community,
the home of heroes."
