Japanese guys who live these islands show you good out of the places.
Now midst in Summer! Let's visit and enjoy these fascinating island today !
Hello, Here we are "Earth-Agora" that Chatting square connecting world
Today, our theme is "island" Therefore atmosphere of our studio set is pretty much changed
It seems like since this program got started. By the way Miwa

I feel something that she creates atmosphere that is not usuall
(Chuckle) You are too cool ! Here today's our guest Yuga Yamato !
Hi, eveyone (^_-)
You are truly top star of the Takarazuka Revue
How would you like islands or ocean ?
I'm nuts about them I usually go to refresh when I let up my stage job
Actually I'm going to Hawaii the day after tomorrow (chuckle)
I want to go there too That's why you look relaxed today
That's right Work and just going to sightseeing too
Then here we introduce Japanese Agorars who live oversea
Today we got these people who live in islands
Guys, I'd appreciate your cooperation
Then at first, there are Tomio and Fumiko Demura in Kodiak Alaska !
Mr. and Mrs. Demura, thank you for cooperation today
With couple, and in Alaska, and ... Island Your choice is pretty unusual, isn't it ?
Right now, let us visit Kodiak island where Mr. and Mrs. Demura live
I heard Kodiak is facinating island, isn't it?
That's right This island attracts a lot
Miwa, you look struggling with something heavy What is it? fishing rod?
I made it ! What is it !?
Kodiak is a island that you can follow through such wild experience
Here we go Let's land
We departed Japan by plane via Anchorage in Alaska It took 20hours...
Finally, we reach Kodiak!
The area of this island is same as Kagoshima prefecture in Japan But that two-third of area of Kodiak is specified as wildlife reserve
Kodiak bear which is the biggest bear among brown bear family
They say about 3500 bears live in this island
And this Agorar, Tomio Demura, who is facinated and eventually moved to this Kodiak 12years ago
He is running a Japanese restaurant nemed "Old Powerhouse" with his wife Fumiko
Their favorite menus contain fresh native seafood like salmon or crab
It's not surprising, Actually Kodiak is a big fishery island which prides herself as third place of catch quantity in United States
This island attracts about 12000 anglers a year coming from all over the world
And the every angler try to catch is ....
Then Fumiko the Agorar who is a biginner about fishing tried to fish the Deep-sea Monster
About 6miles away from shore, they say the Deep-sea Monster come to get their prey, small fishes
First they prepare tackles They seem pretty big, don't they?
Gigantic hook and artificial beit which is 18inches !
And fresh beits are roughly cut herring, everything look wild
Their strategy is to fetch the Monster with both artificial beit and the herrings
The depth of water is 55yard, Fumiko try to let the tackle sink very slowly
10minutes later, she felt something she got "But I think it's lighter one
I hope it's good one
What she got is Rockfish which is about 17inch. It is fancy fish but of course not Deep-sea Monster.
And then 1 and half hour past by
Fumiko's fishing rod got bent a lot !
This could be... !!
It's heavy, really heavy It must be very big It's really heavy !
Captain holds Fumiko's body to prevent her falling down into sea
Raise your rod, wind the reel ...
After fighting, it seemed even big fish got tired then it's getting weaker
Then finally it exposes itself
Get it closer closer closer
Let me get it , Let me get it
After 20minutes battle, eventually the monster gave up
The monster fished up on the boat, it show its true colors, it is Hulibat, the family of flounders.
length 4'7" weight 88lb
This big one is still midium size
Sometimes anglers get big one like over 6'7"
Fumiko, even novice angler, got nine hulibats and five rockfishes in just two hour
Kodiak is exactlly FISHING PARADISE
But people who got so many fish might be nervous They'll wonder how can they bring so many fish to their home
But don't worry, there're fish company they can make fish into small packs After that they can send them anywhere in U.S.
Why don't you come and fish in Kodiak this summer !?
Okay, we made fake fish as almost same size that Fumiko got
Weight is 88 lb Here we go, this big guy Wow!
She got that big fish anyway
I've gotten a stingray like chair face size I still needed 20 minutes to raise it I think it's really hard for woman to get it by herself
Fumiko! Great job! Are you serious you tried to fish first time ?
Fumiko, but somehow the captain scolded you, didn't he? (chuckle )
He shouted " let me get rod. let me get rod"
How were you? I was yelled a lot (chuckled)
But it seemed pretty dangerous It was tough as if it was dangerous
How did you handle that hulibat after you fished it ?
I gave friend some of them. We can eat rest of them about 3 month 3 month !? Are you sure!?
By the way, is this hulibat white meat or blue meat?
It has white meat Is that so. As I thought they are close with flounders.
Is it delicious?
Yes, it's very tasty But I think it was so big that it had little flavor As matter of fact, little more smaller one has greater taste
How do you cook them ?
You can eat them as Sashimi(raw fish) as long as they are fresh Wow, we can eat them as sashimi Yes, you can have them as sashimi which is really delicious
Wow, we got something Here they come
Yes, we got hulibat from Alaska Here is grill of hulibat
Looks great ! Please try them
Tomio is running a restaurant
So we asked him the recipi of hulibat And we got blue cheese wasabi sauce which he tought us
It looks like grill of flounder
This is white meat, exactlly How do you like ?
Ummm Is it delicious ? Ummm Ummmm
Your hair is getting onto the plate I almost ate with my hair (chuckled)
Oh! This sauce has something mysterious taste
But it's gonna be tasty if we're gonna get used
But this is really tasty white fish This meat is good for Japanese, I think
Tomio, what kind of status is this hulibat in Kodiak? Is it kind of expensive one ?
Well, as you guessed, they are expensive fishes like king crabs or king salmons King crabs sounds very expensive !
But they don't eat them as regular food ?
Yes, exactlly. They eat hulibat when they have special event like birthday or something like that Tomio, do you serve the hulibat at your restaurant ?
Yes, we are selling them Oh, really. How are you selling them ? Do you sell them like this grill style ? Yes
Are you selling hulibats that you fished ? No, we're not allowed to sell what we have fished. We have to buy them
I got it. You guys are just to enjoy fishes what you've got by yourself. I see ...
By the way, Kodiak has some other fascinations except fishing, right ?
Yes, indeed We have not only Kodiak Bears but also Sea Otters and Killer Whales, another name Orca Orca !?
Orca!? Yes, they come in front of our restaurant as well as our house
And also we have sea lions Sea lo .. what did you say ... ? Sea lions, we have sea lions around here
Wow, you have sea lions too !? Yes, they occasionally come and swim in front of our restaurant and house That's great !
We have typical tropical image about islands like today's studio set, haven't we ? But if you say island in Alaska, they have bears, sea lions ....
It was very different before my preconceived image But at Kodiak, we can fish, we can eat delicious foods and there are various kind of animals
Tomio, Fumiko, how do you feel after you moved to Kodiak Is Kodiak nice place ?
Kodiak is wonderful island Needless to say about ocean, stars look awesome as well, especially North Star
Umm, it sounds North Star is very close there Sounds good
And also we can see Northern Light
Northern Lisht !! I want to see it !!
I thought Northern Light can be seen from Norway or Finland in North Europe
They have been living 12 years Thank you very much today !
Thank you !
