My name is Jan van Emelen.
I graduated as physician and together with some colleagues, I founded MACX in 2013.
MACX stands for Medical Active Care Services,
and its main goal is implementing integrated care in Belgium.
With this project, we aim at people with MCI.
MCI stands for mild, or moderate, cognitive impairment, in Dutch it is called 'diminishing of the brain function'.
These are often people above the age of 65
of which we think 25 percent suffers from MCI.
Firstly, we want to identify them
and secondly, we want to support them in their daily activites.
An important partner is Zorgbedrijf Antwerpen, or ZBA.
Zorgbedrijf Antwerpen has 4000 employees,
and delivers social services on daily basis to more than 15000 people.
We also founded a scientific working group
together with practitioners and professors specialized in this matter.
The added value of this TETRA-project is two-way.
On the one hand it is a fun way to identify these people prematurely,
on the other hand we can effectively offer support for their everyday activities.
