My name is Thomas MacDonald. I’m originally from Fiji.
In 1987 I went on a trip to Levuka which was the old capital of Fiji.
I went swimming with my sister and a friend of ours and we were playing in a waterfall.
I dove off the waterfall and I must have hit a log or something. I broke some ribs and
then through that those ribs punctured a lung and also my heart.
I had to go to New Zealand for two valve replacements. About a year and three months after that I
had my first stroke. It wasn’t that bad and I recovered from that.
But after two years and seven months I had a second stroke which paralysed my whole left
side. I couldn’t see, I couldn’t hear, there was no movement on my left side.
With my stubbornness, my pride at that time, the specialist and doctor offered for me to
have a wheelchair but I said no. So he gave me a walker.
I used that walker for a while. It was frustrating because I couldn’t use
my limbs. In 1995 after my second stroke, my mother
and my cousin took me to one of the Bill Subritzky meetings at Liberty Church in Avondale.
Bill Subritzky asked the crowd if there was a guy here who’d had a stroke. I do not
know or remember what was happening or what else he was saying but I remember he was asking
for a guy who’d had a stroke. So my cousin Fetty helped me to the stage
with the walker. I got prayed over and praise the Lord I was
healed that night. Bill Subritzky wanted to test what God had
done and that I was healed so I dropped my walker and started to walk. Eventually I was
walking. I could walk. I could use my hands. At that moment I could see out of my eye and
hear out of my ear on my left side. There was no block in my eye or my ear and I could
hear. In the morning I woke up and I felt wholeness.
I felt whole. I could hear, I could use my hand.
There was no struggle to get out of bed. Everything was normal.
Now I could walk without a walker and without help.
I didn’t have problems or do anything that a person with a stroke would do.
He is the living God and I praise Him for that.
