To select a whole chicken, find a chicken that's got a nice yellow skin. The color may
vary depending on what the chicken's diet is, however yellow to light yellow is good.
You also want to make sure that the skin is firmly attached to the chicken and that it
is firm to the touch. If its mushy, then the chicken is probably old or its been sitting
in its own juices. When selecting your chicken, make sure that there are no bruises on the
skin of the chicken. Sometimes there can be bruises on the skin, so keep an eye out for
that. Another thing you want to look for when selecting a chicken is to see how much fat
is on the chicken. If there is a lot of fat, you really don't want to paying for the extra
fat, so keep that in mind when you're selecting your chicken. Also smell your chicken. If
the chicken has an off odor, its probably not good so go ahead and smell your chicken
and make sure that its a nice fresh smell. And that is how you select a whole chicken.
