Hey guys welcome to Cool Bits where we point out our favorite moments from popular and
maybe not so popular games. These Cool Bits might be a secret, an Easter Egg, or just
a small detail that really resonated with us.
This time we'll be taking a look at some of the hidden details of Sonic Lost World's downloadable
Zelda Zone.
Now Sonic Zelda Zone does a great job paying homage to the Zelda series, whether it's the
large open field, explorable dungeon, collectibles rupees or Heart Containers, and even the trademark
beeping when you're low on health.
And yet, even that doesn't even come close to covering it all, as the Zelda Zone even
goes so far as to duplicate some of the secrets that the series is famous for too
Take the cameo by Cuccos here--now if you've played a Zelda game before, then you surely
know where this going. Yep, if dare you attack them, they'll fight right back
Now if you manage to survive, you may find yourself in need of some health. And thankfully,
either of the Gossip Stones in the field can help fix you right up, as a Fairy will appear
when you get close--and this is actually a reference to a secret first seen in The Ocarina
of Time, where a Fairy would similarly appear from a Gossip Stone if you played the right
Ocarina song nearby.
And that's not all, because just like in that game, the stones here will even react to being
attacked, bouncing around as if they were made of rubber.
Now in the Zelda series, the Gossip Stones would even react in different ways depending
on which weapon Link used to interact with it. But unfortunately, Sonic isn't able to
duplicate any of these since he doesn't have any similar abilities here...or does he?
As it turns out, if you enter the level with a Black Bomb in your Item Bah, that you obtained
either elsewhere in the game, or by completing this very same Zelda level, check out what
happens if you detonate it while right up against a Gossip Stones
Yep--it just took off like a rocket--just like when Link would detonate a bomb next
to one in Ocarina of Time. Pretty cool, huh?
It's this attention to detail that really makes Sonic Lost World's Zelda Zone stand-out,
as it truly represents the series on which its based--well, as much as a Zelda-inspired
level in a Sonic game can of course. And that wraps it up for this episode of Cool Bits
for Sonic Lost World. Thanks for watching and make sure to stay-tuned to GameXplain.com
