We are going to Dave Crosby for our education moment
over the last few weeks we've been talking about
fundamentals the basic of sales
and one of the things i think is very interesting is
what we call ourselves how many people here
consider themselves a sales executive in one form or another
okay we consider ourselves to be in sales
but people hate to be...
people love to buy that they hate to be SOLD
they hate to be sold but yet were sales executives
so we are in an industry were we are trying to get people to do something
or have them be in a way that they don't wanna be
okay and so I'm consider myself I a buying consultant
because I want to help a person do what they want to do
not what they don't want to do which is be sold
I wanted to share your experience I had recently I had I have an opportunity to
go on I
three-day vacation up to Park City and to go on this trip I had to be in a sales
presentation for a timeshare I've been on many many times share presentations
and I was actually very interested in this specific one in Park City
so when we were going through the presentation I
knew the value okay I understand the value statement of
what he was offering and i said to him my
kids are in the room by themselves and I'm nervous about that and so
let's get to the price let's talk about the price
of what you have to offer and do you know what he said to me?
he said hold on I've got room for an hour and and a half well get there
yeah
and I thought to myself I've said that I've been on the other end this conversation because
he's assuming that I'm not interested right and I just want to get to the end
so that I can say no thank you leave
okay he assumed I was just trying to push through
the presentation how many times have we assumed that you know the person we were
talking to wasn't interested
or we knew better than they did okay how many
how many men here have been shopping for jeans with a woman

he spent two hours shopping for jeans does not know what she was looking
alright K when a man goes shopping for jeans wasn't looking for
his size thats right speed let's get in get out try it on get it done

everybody is different okay we all enjoy buying things
we hate to be sold the next time you're presenting to a potential client
don't assume that you know what they're looking for take the time to listen
twice as much as you talk
so that you understand what they're trying to accomplish so that you can
facilitate them buying
rather than trying to sell them something
