For Expert Village, I'm Kurt, Chief Engineer at KGB Studios. We're ongoing our discussion
with the 4-track reel to reel. We're actually going to hook up a microphone and let's try
to record one track. So let's get going in that session right now. Ready? Okay, there's
our connector here. We're ready to plug it in. These, of course, are the headphones and
these are the microphone jacks. So we're going to start in our reel to reel session, we're
actually going to plug in. We're just going to make it very sequential. We're just going
to go from front left to front right, left for the rear and right for the rear. So we're
just going to plug in here. You just simply plug it in there. And then, of course, over
on this side here is going to be where you're going to adjust the microphone input on this
***, as you can see when you're turning it there. Now that's how you connect. The final
piece is, now that we're going to be set up, we're going to be now ready to record. So
we push the front right record button and we're going to listen in our headphones. We're
going to listen to our recording to make sure, and this is the monitor circuit right here.
The final piece is you turn these volumes up over on the far right side. And that's
how you string it up. Hook up the microphone. Join us at the next session where we're actually
going to be recording our first track. Great, now the last piece here to fill this section
out is I tend to let this leader or cleaner tape, the leader part, just roll through until
I get the start of the tape over into this section here, so I know that the heads are
completely full with the actual magnetic tape. And that's the last section, as you can see
right over in here; I have the magnetic tape past the heads which are in this section here
on the machine. That does it for this session. Now let's record our first track of music
on this reel to reel tape and we'll do that in the next section. Join me then. For Expert
Village, I'm Kurt at KGB Studios.
