ABE ***: Hi. Welcome to Expert Village, my name is Abe ***. I'm going to take you through
step by step to shape yourself a complete surfboard. Now, we got our tail shaped out
the way we want it. We can get back to these rails. I'll go over and rough in the top part
of the rails. So I've made a 45 here. I'm going to take that 45 and try to knock off
this edge with that, and constantly feeling the board with your hands. Is this one the
same as this one? And what I'm doing is I'm hitting this high part that's feeling little
thicker than I wanted to be especially on this side. To save some time, I'm going to
get to that power planer now. Get them as close as you can to be even. I can see I can
clean up the little things. It's best to use a shearform if you're not sure about where
the planer is going to do for you. So I'm going to go ahead and use a shearform right
here.
Feel is the best thing. Okay, that feels pretty good. Now as you can see, I've kinda made
a pretty wide area cut here that's because we're going to take this rail down a little
bit more on this very corner edge. I just want to give the deck a little bit of a taper
down. As we go with these rails, like I said, you constantly want to feel for 'em. Just
make sure each side is planing out the same way. Look down. Look for any lumps or humps.
I'm pretty happy with this right now.
