Hi, my name is Lynn Maggio, Mrs. Alabama International 2011.
I have five boys: Dylan, Devon, Dustin, Michael, and Marcus, three dogs, and my loving husband Tony.
It was so interesting the way my husband and I met, we actually met on a blind date at a Mardi Gras ball in Mobile.
And if you know anything about Mobile, Alabama, its the birthplace of Mardi Gras.
Tony had never been married, never had children.
After facing, you know, a major health issue I was no longer able to have biological children.
It was very disheartening to know that I would not be able to biologically carry my current husbands children.
Through my experience with adoption I understand the joy and the happiness that its brought to my life as well as my husband, and my family's life in general.
I selected Independent Adoption Center as my charity of choice because I love what they stand for.
Its truly about embracing love, children, family, and life.
Since IAC was founded they have placed over 4,000 babies in loving homes.
Going through the experience myself, of adoption, in trying to adopt through an agency, I understand, you know, how exciting that statistic is.
As an adoption expert, I get many phone calls from mothers who are faced with unplanned pregnancies.
By steering them to the adoptionhelp.org website then they get excited, they realize that they have options.
That there are resources out there, and there are loving couples that are willing to adopt your child and give your child a loving home.
My twin boys were via a surrogate mother.
What a lot of people don't understand about surrogacy is if the egg donor or the *** donor are unknown then you actually have to adopt.
We ultimately had to adopt our twin boys, Michael and Marcus.
To have Michael and Marcus I totally understand that its not about having your children biologically, its about the love that's there.
And the love that people have in their hearts to share with their children who need that love.
There's hope for everyone when it comes to a family. I know that it can be discouraging at times, but never give up.
