On the way to what?
To Palma de Mallorca
Oh wow, that's cool
(...) crazy Spanish bus drivers
Even Spanish people themselves say
that we should be careful
Keep your eyes open - Abre los ojos
Ok
We're in (*on) Plaza de la Reina
- Catedral
Smells very nice by the way
I can't say what this is... (the scent)
What are your impressions so far?
My impressions are that I would actually move to live here
Because it's warm?
No, well.. It's very nice weather
at this time of the year
and beautiful.
It's so green
Yeah
Also I like the colours
of the houses and everything
It's very clean
Let's go
Yeah, this looks...
I don't know, a bit Roman
Right now we are between two great monuments in Palma de Mallorca
On my right you can see
the castle... Royal Palace de la Almudaina
which was the Spanish king's summer house
It's full of tapestries
lion king (*I meant a lion sculpture :P)
fountains
and a bunch of incredible paintings from Caravaggio and Bosch.
And on the left here you can see
a giant gothic cathedral
Palma Cathedral
It's incredible with its rich architecture
and makes you feel small.
Amazing view, yeah?
Yeah
I was just saying to Kosio that
It would be so amazing to have a view like that from the window
if you'd see that every morning...
...you wake up and you see THAT.
Yeah, I'd say that it would inspire you.
I actually
almost had it
because I just had like, I don't know, ten minutes to the beach from my flat
from my house
when I was living on Gran Canaria
and I didn't appreciate it back then.
And in Barcelona you had a nice view from your window as well.
You had a view of palms and a little park.
But this is... this is next level.
This is next level.
If you could live in Palma de Mallorca all year long...
Nice.
If you could live like... in this palace
Definitely would move here.
Four euros
Show everyone what do you have?
An audio guide.
Your new friend
'Hello, it's me...'
An audio guide
So we are in the palace now
'Be careful, because you are going to fall off the...'
That's really what they say?
Yes, that's what they say
right now.
Oh, look, no cameras here.
Great.
Oh, we'll record a bit.
It's fine.
That's what we were talking about
The view from the palace.
Karolcia is touching history again
I'm touching history.
But indeed
It's a beautiful place.
And look at that.
I always like to touch the walls of the place which I'm visiting
of the monuments
which I'm visiting
because, you know, it's like...
I touched it.
I was there.
I visited it myself.
You understand what I mean?
It's like... The feeling.
Right now we're exploring the palace (de) la Almudaina.
It's incredible.
What I'm going to say is that you really have to visit it in person.
We're not going to show you much footage
but I think we're here at the right time
as there aren't many people and it's much easier to explore
in peace without being shoved by others.
The castle has a strategic position
It's also a political meeting point for the Spanish royal family.
Let me just say that the tapestries are beautiful.
They depict a lot of historical moments.
There is also a certain atmosphere to this place.
It's original look is very well preserved
despite the fact that it is still used by the Spanish royals.
The whole experience is made really well
There is a lot of information which is easily accesible.
Like i was saying before
palace was built by Arabs
who came to the island from North Africa.
and was taken over by the British
and later claimed by the Spanish in the early 14th century.
One of the preffered methods of transport here.
What I really like, I really enjoy the window blinds
in Spain.
You enjoy the window blinds?
Yeah, I mean I really like it
And I love little balconies, I always loved...
Here maybe not that much
but when I lived in Barcelona for three months
(showing off now)
there a lot of balconies were full of flowers
That was amazing.
Yeah, yeah, I remember that.
Do you remember?
They were stuffed with flowers.
Like in old movies the Spanish houses have these (patios in the middle)
Here? There?
It doesn't matter
Let's see what tapas they have and then we'll decide yeah?
Tapa de queso...
Come here, it's better
Oh, this is the same place, yeah! (It had two entrances from two different sides ;))
So what's the first one?
Atun is tuna
Then you have anchois, you know what it is
Jamon serrano is a Spanish ham
We don't like it
Baguette de queso is a sandwich with cheese
Then you have salchichon - it's like a very fat kind of sausage
Jamón y queso, so ham and cheese
Tortilla española is this Spanish omelette
similar, it's from potatoes
then you have salami
and jamón and yor - whatever yor is...
I think I want cheese one
but I'm not sure
Yeah, just cheese would be great
You know what's annoying me here?
What's annoying you?
That a lot of people I see that are working in restaurant
are going out to smoke
and you don't know if they wash they hands
Properly, yeah
That annoys me as well.
The other thing is that I don't like smokers (I don't want to offend anyone, it's just bad for you people! :))
When you prepare food it's...
Did you notice it?
Fun fact
If someone smokes
they injest radiation
and then that radiation is...
Fun fact, haha, very fun
It's not fun, it's a bad thing
That's why I don't like smoking
That's why 'smoking bad for you'
Radiation.
Anyway...
There is no greens though
I would preffer if it would have some salad
Oh my God, Kosio, seriously
You said you are hungry and you want something cheap and quick
There you go.
Yeah, but...
I'd like greens
in my baguette.
Ok, we'll go for tapas later
We have some...still...cash. Yeah?
Yeah, alright.
You wanna eat?
I wanna eat.
I can't focus, I'm trying to find something.
Your mom wrote 'mnogo dobre'
No, I switched it off
Awsome baguettes, without greens though
Fresh baguettes
Yeah, bread is really nice, indeed
I think my phone is #$%^&* up.
It's flashing, when I do this
it starts flashing while... Ah, no, it's fixed now.
No, again, it does that
Eat!
Yeah, I'm gonna eat now.
Palma was in fact named after the Roman city of Palmaria.
The Roman city still exists, a metre or two beneath the ground.
Inhabitants of houses near the cathedral are still discovering Roman remains.
In the 13th century, Palma became an important port & commercial centre in the Mediterranean.
The Port and Marina stretching the entire length of the city
is a complete maze of small boats, large super yachts and Cruise Ships.
Many of the boats and yachts dock in the Port to enjoy some time in the City
perhaps some shopping, dining or sightseeing.
I think we're gonna head back to Can Pastilla now
We're ending the day with a nice walk through the park
Hopefully we're gonna be able to find a market, where we can buy some fresh fruits
or the other plan is
to get some frozen yoghurt.
I just wanted to say one sentence. (Not true, more :P)
I was waiting for fresh fruits for two years now.
Ok, no.
Spanish fresh fruits
Because when I lived in Spain it was so easy to just go to the market and grab some fresh oranges
straight from the trees
and in UK we don't have that
I know, ok, in Bulgaria as well there were fresh fruits when we went
In Poland... some fresh fruits, but not from like tropical... we don't have a tropical climate, so it's something else
and here
we can eat everything
fresh!
Very Spanish btw, buldings as well
look at the balconies
they have like, these awesome chairs
Let's go
Oh wow, what is that?
Do you see that?
It's funny
Is it a sculpture?
It's a sculpture, yeah.
Interesting
It's interesting how the whole weight is...
For me it looks like it's 'recycled' sculpture.
Maybe, but
Yes, I think
But do you know what's interesting?
Imagine that the top is much heavier than the bottom
and it's still holding
It's not falling
It's the modern art.
It's calibrated so all the weight is in one point
in the middle
You know, it's all the angle
I'm trying to sound smart but I don't, am I?
Let's go
