When was I 20? I'm not sure I ever was 20. I graduated from high school at 16.
I got married at 19. I had my first child at 21. So I kind of did things at an
accelerated pace. But if I could go back, I think probably at that age I wish I had
known to keep doing the things I had done as a child, you know,
the playing outdoors, the running, the swinging on swings, the being active,
being in the pool, to not settle for a more sedentary routine life as you age.
You know, we all think about aging and growing up and we have to put aside the
things that we did as kids, but man, if I could ride a bike again or if I could skip
or jump rope, it'd be pretty ugly actually right now, but I'd love to be able to do
that, but can't. So at the age of 20, I
wish I had known how important it was...how
important it was and critical to stay active and to stay connected.
But I also at 20... I wouldn't want to go back to 20 because where I'm at right now,
I so value my experiences and what I've been able to learn from it and be able to
reach out and to do for other people and I think that's part of the power,
this advocacy and what I do through my writing, through my blogging,
through research, through...as the lead patient representative and co-investigator
for iConquerMS, I'm able to take all those experiences that I've had in my life from
20 on to now and add value to the lives of other people.
