Hi I'm David Cantor with the Law Offices of David Michael Cantor.
Today I'm going to talk about being arrested for DUI or any other type of
crime
in the City of Scottsdale. Now when I saw the city,
I mean a city police officer arrested you, not DPS,
not Sheriff's Office, and if you're arrested by city police officer most
likely you we're taken to one of the police stations.
Now district one is located at Miller Road & McKellips,
district two is the downtown police station that's over at 75th Street
and over by the baseball stadium just north of Indian School.
District 3 is Via Linda that's Via Linda and 91st Street
and district 4 is the foothills station at Pima Road and Thompson Peak Parkway.
Now why am I telling you about these four stations? Well many people are
transferred to the stations when they're arrest for DUI
and then they get release there, many others are released
at a hospital if blood was drawn or at a DUI van.
Regardless you'll get a ticket that tells you need to go to a single
courthouse after you've been released
and that is the Scottsdale City Court. Now the Scottsdale City Court is
at 3700 North 75th Street, again that's right next to the police station
located on basically 75th Street
North Indian School where the baseball field is.
Now when you go to court you can park across the street, there's free parking.
It looks like it's a police lot, don't freak out you're allowed to park there,
you go inside the court, make sure you're dressed appropriately. I'd suggest
a collared shirt
and once you're there you'll be dealing with four specific judges
and these judges are, Statia Hendrix, she's in courtroom 1.
Statia used to be a city prosecutor, I find it to be somewhat
prosecution oriented. Joseph Olcavage is the presiding judge, he's in courtroom number
two,
Joe O, he's a great guy. Orest Jejna,
he's in courtroom 3. Orest used to be a criminal
defense attorney and he's a pretty decent guy.
Jim Blake, now Jim Blake's in courtroom four. He's a former *** prosecutor,
he's a scary guy but ultimately he's very fair
so you may think is really gruff but he will follow the law
and he definitely makes the state hold its burden of proof.
The best way to deal with these cases
is to not deal with them on your own. So if you're charged with a DUI or some
other type crime,
give us a call, it doesn't cost anything to meet with us but it will take about 30 minutes,
and we'll go over your case with you from top to bottom and hopefully find a way out of it for
you.
Once we represent you, we can go to court for you
every month so you don't have to go, you're not gonna miss work and you're not going to
miss school.
An average case last about six to nine months so it is important that you get a
lawyer
in more ways than one, it can save you money, it can save you time, it can save you jail
time.
If this applies you, we look forward to hearing from you soon.
