Hi this is Bill Macpherson for Expert Village okay in this clip we're going to talk about
how to properly setup an audio track to record an audio signal. Now you want to create a
new track and we're going to choose audio track1 and name that track we're going to
name it guitar cause we're going to lay down a guitar track. Now one of the first things
you want to do is setup your audio record path so go under audio, set audio record path,
now in this window there's a few things you want to set the maximum recording time, you
really want to use this because it'll put a lot less stress on your computer if you
set this to a low number I set it to around 7. Now to set where your audio files will
go when you record them just click the set button, and a good place to set the audio
files that you'll be creating in the same folder that you saved your song in. Click
set and then okay, the next thing you want to set is your input we have a guitar already
set input 1 and if you go down to your channel strip you see this one here says input 1-2
that's cause right now it's set as a stereo track. Go all the way to the bottom and just
click there it'll change to a mono track now you can see it says input 1. If we click and
hold there you see all the inputs that I have of course my guitar is in input 1 so we'll
choose input 1, now to be able to hear the guitar that your going to be recording you
want to turn on software monitoring. So you want to go under audio, audio hardware and
drivers, and down in here you'll find software monitoring, just turn that on now when you
click the record button you'll be able to hear your guitar. And that's how you properly setup and audio
track to record audio.
