I would say that I don’t think that having children and getting married delayed my particular
situation of becoming a partner. I can think back of when I came into the firm as a female,
and a male at the same time, we made partner in the same year.
I think I continued to have relationships even when I had downtime with my children.
When getting married and having a family, you still need to keep on top of your clients
and your associates. Sometimes I think when do see a female in the workplace, they may
forget and time will pass and it’s hard to get those motions back in place.
I think that for our young people, we can tell when a young person has a light at the
end of the tunnel as we call it. We want to be able to get to that partner level. I think
if you work hard with what you’re doing, you build relationships. You always see the
positives of working hard and getting to that next step. You can get to that partner level.
