Hello?
Hey there, Leo. How's your new painting coming along?
I'm sorry, Louis. I'm just not ready yet.
I need more time.
Leo, it's been months since your last piece.
You're losing publicity, along with support from our benefactors.
I know, I know.
Any new idea I come up with just doesn't feel right.
Well, you better come up with something fast. Or we'll lose the funding we have.
Hi.
Aren't you that famous painter?
Yes, I am. May I sit down?
Yeah, of course.
So, are you a fan of my works?
Yeah, actually I am.
I really like this one painting of yours of the guitar.
I just think that the composition is perfect.
Thank you, thank you. I appreciate that.
No problem.
So, do you mind sharing with me what's your inspiration?
Well, basically it's very spontaneous each time.
It's like I get a bolt of lightning passing through me each time I see an object.
And after that, my hands do wonders. I can't stop painting.
I see. That's actually very interesting.
I got to ask something though.
Do you think that you would ever want to paint something alive?
Well, I have painted inanimate objects, but I could paint something different.
May I have your attention please?
Fellow lovers of art. I know we are all gathered here to show appreciation and respect for the art form.
We are all drawn together by our appreciation of art in the sense that it takes us to entirely different worlds
where we could see, for a moment, into the hearts and the minds
of those who have painstakingly painted these pieces for us to enjoy.
But, you know, more than anything, we are here today to show respect for one particular piece
which I have seen from its inception to its completion today.
A piece that has so much emotion in it that to try explain it would take away its splendor.
And so I present to you "The Lady in the Blue Dress".
Yes, indeed. And to speak to you more about this piece is my good friend and colleague, Leo.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Thank you all for coming.
I have a speech prepared.
I just want to say that this painting is different from most of my previous works.
I was pretty much staring down a black hole after finishing my last piece,
my creativity sucked away by a never-ending void of darkness.
But then in the midst of all the darkness I came across a bright light
which indicated that I needed to expand my horizons.
So, even though I never expected to paint a piece like this, I’m really glad I did.
So thank you all for coming.
Some night. Can't believe that went rather well. Another great success for the Great Leonardo.
I'm going to make some tea. You want some, babe?
Babe?
Hey, what's wrong?
Are you seriously asking me what's wrong right now?
Don't talk to me. You completely ignored me throughout the whole party this night.
You were just busy being the Great Leonardo and sucking up to those stupid art enthusiasts.
Why are you so upset right now? I did mention where I got the inspiration from, remember?
Nooo! You were all about "Me, me, me".
Seriously.
I've supported you, I've even posed for you, and I even loved you!
But what do I get? I just get cut off to the side like a piece of dirty garbage.
Ok, now you're just being selfish.
You really want credit for my work? You are just a model. For God's sake, that was my hard work.
Every brushstroke, every touchup, every correction. Everything I did to make that painting look perfect.
There you go again with the whole "Me, me, me".
You know, since you admire yourself a lot, why don't you just sit alone and enjoy this grand apartment of yours.
Cos I'm through.
Good luck with you, and good luck with yourself.
