I was a mechanic, I was a diesel mechanic for over ten years,
and I retired from that because my body couldn't take that work any more.
And I went to school, and everything that I was offered and needed was taken care of.
You're going to be finding employment for people, you're going to be finding
good employees for the local employers,
and it's going to support the entire economic climate of the town.
Employers will have confidence in hiring someone that they know
has these resources and support behind them.
They actually called me and said: "How are you doing, Jerry, do you need
help with employment? Are you employed right now?"
So they actually went beyond that scope to try to help me out
even after the classes were done.
Times have been tough, and it's been hard to find jobs, and when people
have been unsuccessful at finding jobs it's really *** your self-esteem,
and you feel pretty downtrodden and beaten up.
To know that you have a support center where there are people
who care about you, and care about your success -
I don't know how you would put a price on how valuable that could be.
When I need something, I come here and see them.
If they can't offer it to me or don't have that service for me,
they'll tell me where I can go look to find it.
It's the most helpful place I've found since I moved to the state.
So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
