Connecting Canadians with Available Jobs is a common-sense
initiative designed to help you find work in your local area
that matches your skills.
It applies to everyone collecting Employment insurance
regular or fishing benefits.
Depending on your EI contributions and claim history,
you will be placed into one of three claimant categories.
Long-tenured workers are those who have paid into the EI
program for the past seven out of ten years and over the past
five years have received 35 weeks or less of EI benefits.
What does this mean for you?
For the first 18 weeks of your EI claim you may limit your
search to jobs within your same occupation,
starting at 90% of your previous wage.
After 18 weeks, you must expand your search to include jobs in
similar occupations, starting at 80% of your previous wage.
You are never required to accept wages that would result in your
receiving less income than you would while collecting EI.
To help you find job opportunities that match your
skills, we've also enhanced our job alerts system.

information about new job postings in your area.
