G'day everyone. My name is Daniel O'Grady and welcome to another
Wasabicars video. Thank you all very much for joining me.
I'm actually wearing this on purpose if you can believe it, because it's warming up.
I figure it's going to be my last chance to wear my signature look.
Hoodie and beanie. Yeah, it's warming up, which is a good thing.
We're coming into car-show season, and there's plenty on the horizon.
One of which is this here. That would be May 18th, there is the Neo-classic car-show in
Mojiko. It's the 6th show. I've been to a few.
It's a great show, guys. They do this every May and then every October
they do a retro, an older car show. It's a fantastic day.
One of the organisers owns this car. This car? What is this car?
This is a 1984, sweet segue by the way, 1984 Toyota Celica XX Super 2000GT, Black Version. This
is actually a very special model. It's one of 400 built. Who knows how many
are still on the roads today, but I can't say I've seen another one.
Limited production model. It's a commemorative model due to the success
of the TA-64 Celicas in the rallies of Africa, I believe.
This car is just a stunning car. And, the first time I saw it, or the first
time I noticed it, it was in a car park in a car-show. Not in the car-show, but at a
car show in Oita. It just blew me away. The cleanness of it.
Black cars, hard to (keep) clean? This guy must spend a few hours cleaning it.
It's just drop-dead gorgeous. The next time I saw it I was at a car-show
in Moji... It was this car-show last year. So, 2013.
It was a rainy day; a terrible day for a car-show but ... they, they, they... continued with
it. They carried on with the show.
Unfortunately, we couldn't see interiors. Windows were up and the bonnets were down.
So, we couldn't get to see much of the car, but I saw the car again the other day. And,
hey. I got lots of photos of everything, so that's why we are here today.
So, what's special about this car, other than its rareness? What does that mean even?
I guess the first thing I should point out is the rear, spoiler-like sunshade on the
rear hatch. What else have we got? We've got the wheels, gold/aluminium wheels.
Can't say I've seen that before. Also, there is a special stripe, also there
is a gold emblem on the car. I'm not sure which one it refers to. It could
be the one in the grille, I believe. Yeah, I'm not really down with these models
to be honest. XX Celicas/Supras, they are a bit new, to
me at least. Other options on this car... I don't know
if this was part of the "Black Edition" Super 2000GT or just an option, but it's got a wrapped
steering wheel and the gear-*** is leather-stitched, whatever the deal is.
Super, super clean nice car. A couple of key things about this particular
car, it still has the original dealership sticker on the rear bumper.
How do you protect a sticker like that for 30 years? And, it still looks in new condition.
It's amazing. It really is amazing. Another lucky point/interesting thing to note
about the car, the body number. The last two digits are 61.
Quite a coincidence. The car is of course a GA61, so the owner was pretty happy for
that fortunate/lucky... coincidence! The engine is of course a 6-cylinder engine.
Two litre, I believe. Oh, of course it is; 2000GT.
DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, and it is in such amazing condition.
The only thing that is not original that I could determine from that information board...
Check out that information board. Actually, it goes to show you and all of us,
how that he cares about his car and how much he's wishing to share it with everyone. There's
so much information there. It's in Japanese so I couldn't get much information
from it. It does have a non-original exhaust, which
is a Fujitsubo exhaust. That's simply because other ones weren't available.
The alternator has been replaced from a different engine. They're the only two things of note
to be honest, mechanical things... Yeah, I think we're done, but what a beautiful,
classic car. The condition is amazing.
This goes out to ... ... just right now I'm forgetting what your username is...
You know who you are. You've shown me your car on Youtube.
I'll link to, so check the description below everyone.
Sumimasen. I'm very sorry. I got confused there.
Nice car. Oh, and the last piece of information that
I have here; he has owned it for three years. So, he just recently got it.
There you go, guys. No question of the day today simply because
I'm drawing a blank at the second. But, thank you all very much for joining me
and take it easy. See you.
