hi I'm Dennis from Hawaii welcome to student to student
our country has gone through some tragic experiences
involving mass shootings such as then you town Connecticut
we wanted to know if our fellow students
are prepare if face with an emergency situation while at any
of BCC's campus if there is an evacuation
I'm running of the campus
at fast as possible well i'd leave as fast as I can I
noticed their signs to follow but I'm not really sure about it
I'd calmly get up and head to the nearest exit
Um.. not exactly at the moment I'm new to campus
run off campus
if I'd guess probably just leave or something don't really know
vice president of the students Steve Ozug
says the college is updated its preperation plan
and has make its findings available to students
faculty and staff he says depending on the
emergency simply getting your car and leaving but the campus
may not be the best course of action every student
should have the mindset that they are going to personally
be prepared for emergency or for crisis
so if an evacuation was called and it was an evacuation where you needed to
get away from the grounds as far as you can as quickly as you can
the last thing you want to do each company car because that will guarantee
guarantee you'll be sitting there for the next hour
we just went with safe distance from the building you not going to get any cars
at all in that case
but we need to go to one of the identified assembly zones were calling them
and we what we did is we built a 500-foot perimeter around the buildings
have the campus
anywhere outside their 500 for perimeter is considered one those assembly zones
so the 500 foot zone its own just to put it in perspective
without having to remember where they exactly are would be they
far side of the pond on the north end of campus
all along Elsbree Street on the sidewalk along Elsbree Street
or lots 6 -10 follow vice president
