Hi, my name is Joanna.
I'm currently studying a Business Management degree at Kingston University.
Initially, I applied for student halls.
It didn't work out for me, so I had to find an alternative way of living.
So, I obviously had to find a private house. I was lucky enough
to have a friend who had a spare room so they were able to take me on.
But, even before that happened I was looking on the Facebook for Kingston's site
and people were posting for extra rooms that they had that they wanted to fill
so I was looking on that as well.
They also post advertisements as well on the Kingston University site
so you are able to find it from there as well.
For anyone who's moving out of their homes and living on their own,
it's a very scary experience, but like I said before
the University really do support you, there are so many people that yo can go to talk to.
Other students are available to give you some guidance, if you're looking for somewhere to live
and also just to give you their experiences of living outside from home.
Try to get as much information as you can. Go to websites, talk to people, check the prospectuses
they have specific information on the prospectus that deals with accomodation
and that will also help you in making your choice.
I don't regret moving out of home, I love every minute of my independence
and I also go back every now and then to see my family
so I don't get too home sick.
But it's been a good experience and I'd recommend it to anybody.
