Today we are going to build a stylish perspex pendant light fixture for you.
To do this, we will need a drill with drill stand,...
...a wire, adhesive tape and, of course, perspex.
It is best to have the perspex cut to size at a DIY store.
We will also need... a BENCH CIRCULAR SAW!
And a small iron file.
In order to produce a larger gluing surface for the boards, we will mitre-cut them.
And we will do this using the bench circular saw.
The cutting procedure is loud but it will lead to a wonderful result.
It is not very easy to cut perspex.
It is important to cut through the board quickly, so that the glass does not melt.
Later we will insert 4 metal rods between the long sides.
For this purpose, we will drill 4 blind holes, 2.5 mm deep, on each inner side.
The holes cannot be seen from outside.
Now we will sand only the straight edges from coarse to fine.
Then we will make a chamfer on the edges at a 45 degree angle.
For assembly, we will use screw clamps to mount a stop.
Then we will lay the parts tight against the stop.
Important: The mitre side on each part must be face down.
We will lay the parts alternately – first short, then long – adjacent to each other.
Then we will join them with the adhesive tape.
Now we will turn the whole thing round carefully.
Next we will apply two-component glue to the mitre grooves.
It is important to use the glue sparingly.
Everything that seeps out later will attack the surface.
Once the glue has been applied, we will fold the parts upwards.
We will also fix the last edge with adhesive tape.
Now the whole thing only has to dry.
The metal rods for the overhead attachment and the glare shield...
...are dipped in some glue and then inserted into the holes.
We will put the glare shield loosely in the light fixture.
Then we will fit the wires with wire clamps,...
...remove the protective film and the adhesive tape...
...and sand a chamfer on each corner to finish with.
Now all we have to do is hang everything up and put bulbs in it. 36
