Hi, I'm Dan Reneau, the gallery director and curator
of the Cultural Arts Center at Longview.
And, uh, right now we have the Lee's Summit Fine Arts Challenge,
actually the second annual.
One of the great things about this exhibit is that it fulfills
one of our visions, our-our goals for the, uh, campus.
Number one that we'd be a college that facilitates the needs and, uh, and, uh,
hopes of our campus but also our community.
And with that said this exhibit showcases three different schools:
Lees Summit West, Lee's Summit North, and Lee's Summit.
And these are the pieces that David Harrison
from the Kansas City Art Institute, our juror this year, selected.

This is a really good opportunity for students,
high school students, to see their work in a gallery.
It changes their perspective, uh, for what they can expect their work to be in the future.
I think a lot of times we have wrong ideas
as to what we can become or what we are supposed to become.
I think an artist, per se, is something that our culture
might not push or say it's acceptable but this gallery really gives an opportunity
for students to express themselves in a really creative way.
